When faced with the daunting task of finding help to care for the emotional and physical wellbeing of someone you love, you will be faced with many questions, some that are more obvious than others.

Making the proper decision about in-home care for a parent, family member or loved one is never easy, but finding the right answers to your questions can help you feel more comfortable with the options available and confident in your final decision.

Below is a list of answers to frequently asked questions about home care services that we hope will be a good starting point in your search for a home care provider. This is meant to be an all-inclusive resource and we would expect you to have more questions and require additional information about the services and caregivers that Sovereign Ease Caregivers & Nursing Care.

Q. How long has the agency been providing Home Care Service?

A. Sovereign Ease was opened in Grande Prairie AB in 2014 and developed a second work-site in Ontario in 2016.

Q. Is a written, customized care plan developed in consultation with the client and family members, and is the plan updated as changes occur?

A. Yes! Sovereign Ease develops a customized care plan that is reviewed and updates regularly. The keys elements for the plan of care are left in the client’s home where the Caregivers writes progress notes so family and loved ones can read.

Q. What is the cost of care?

A. Our hourly rate ranges between $27.00 and $33.00 per hour. The care plan that is developed determines the level of care needed and the specifications and requirements for a quality trained caregiver. A complimentary Caregiver & Nursing Care evaluation is completed which leads to the care plan. It is this process that determines the hourly rate. We do customize the rate for certain cases such as round the clock care. During our complimentary Caregiver & Nursing Care evaluation, we assess for sources of payment a family may not be aware of such as a Long-Term Care Insurance policy and the ability to access the VA Aid and Attendant benefits.

Q. How are emergencies handled after normal business hours?

A. Sovereign Ease’s phones are staffed 24/7/365 by a trained staff person. We do not use an answering service. Any emergencies are handled immediately by calling.

Q. Do they closely supervise the quality of care, including maintenance of a daily journal in the client’s home and non-scheduled supervisory visits?

A. We have a Quality Assurance staff person who makes regular visits to our client’s home to assure the care plan in being followed. There is a journal that is left in the home so family and loved ones can see what is occurring.

Q. Does the agency employ a nurse, social worker, or other qualified? Professional to make regular visits to the client’s home?

A. Yes. Sovereign Ease is owned and operated by a Health care experienced. Further, we have nurses that we call upon as needed. Finally, Sovereign Ease has a caregiver.

Q. Do they provide a written document that states the rights and responsibilities of the client, and explains the company’s privacy policy and code of ethics?

A. Yes, when a family signs the Service Agreement a written document explaining all these elements is reviewed in person before the Service Agreement is signed and a written copy is left with the family.

Q. Do they Triple-screen their caregiver employees carefully, including use of reference checks, driving records and criminal background investigations?

A. Yes, Yes and more Yes! And background checks are re-done every 6-months.

Q. Does the Agency mandate ongoing training of its employees to continually update their skills?

A. Sovereign Ease want an on-line training program called. This training and education program must keep worker update. Sovereign Ease to train and support ongoing education.

Q. Does the agency manage all payroll and employee-related matters and adhere to state and federal guidelines in its employment practices, such as withholding appropriate taxes and providing Workers’ Compensation and other benefits?
